Specs to include
Give what you know, or name a product for us to match.
- Grain or emboss
- The surface pattern, from smooth or pebble to leather, carbon fiber or crocodile. A product name or a photo is the fastest way to match one.
- Color
- A color name, a photo, or the product you want matched.
- Thickness (mm)
- Vinyl and backing together. Thicker vinyl wears longer but is harder to sew and to stretch around curves.
- Backing
- The fabric on the back. Knit backings stretch around cushions and curves; woven backings hold their shape on flat panels.
- Abrasion (double rubs)
- Wyzenbeek double rubs (ASTM D4157). Heavy commercial seating calls for 30,000 or more, and many contract vinyls reach 100,000.
- UV resistance
- Hours of light before visible fading, often tested to AATCC 16. Marine grades list 1,000 hours or more.
- Cold crack
- The lowest temperature the vinyl bends at without cracking. Seats and covers left out in winter need a rating such as -20 °F (-29 °C) or lower.
- Flame standard
- The fire test your market requires: CAL TB 117-2013 or NFPA 260 for furniture, FMVSS 302 for vehicle interiors, BS 5852 in the UK.
